GOLF TIPS WHEN TEEING OFF IN SOUTH
AFRICA
Accessories
Soft spikes are the norm on South African golf courses.
These can also be purchased at most golf clubs. Shoes, pull
carts and golf clubs can be hired at most clubs in South
Africa. Only short WHITE socks will be allowed on the golf
course. Sandbags are compulsory on South African golf courses.
Divots are not replaced on our courses, instead, sand is
placed in the divot. Should you not have a sandbag, you
will be able to hire or purchase one at all golf clubs in
South Africa.
Golf Carts
Most clubs in South Africa provide the service of self drive
golf carts. It is important that you book these in advance
as few clubs have enough carts to supply the entire field.
Caddies
Caddies are available at most golf clubs in South Africa.
Rates for caddies differ from club to club and should also
be requested when making a booking. It is standard practice
to give the caddie “a little something” for
a halfway house refreshment as well as a tip at the end
of each round.
Halfway House
The enjoyable feature of South African Golf Clubs is the
halfway house. These players are able to buy refreshments
and grab a sandwich after playing your first nine holes.
It is customary for this short rest period not to take more
than 10 minutes.
The 19th hole
This worldwide tradition is also very much part of golf
in South Africa. Relax in the clubhouse after your round
of golf with an ice cold beverage whilst reminiscing of
the course just played and possibly even more to come!
