The Garden Route in South Africa extends from Mossel Bay in the East to Port Elizabeth in the West, it is an area of outstanding beauty, and is arguably South Africa, most famous golfing destination. Home to some of the finest golfing resorts in the country, at Pro Golf Safaris we believe this is a "must do" for the true golfing aficionado.
Probably most famous of all golf resorts in the Garden Route is Fancourt, this resort is home to 3 courses – The Links (Home to the 2003 Presidents Cup), Outeniqua, and Montagu Courses. The only way to play these prestigious courses is to stay at Fancourt, and because of this reason Fancourt is probably the most popular of all our destinations in the Garden Route.
The town of Knysna is the centre of the Garden Route. This area is home to Pezula and Simola, these courses have spectacular views across the Indian Ocean and Knysna Lagoon. For the non golfers or simply as a way of relaxing after your rounds of golf, each of these resorts have a spectacular spa facility with indoor pools and a plethora of treatment rooms.
The courses of Oubaai and Pinnacle Point are definitely worthy of a mention. Pinnacle Point is often regarded as the Pebble Beach of South Africa, with spectacular cliff top holes and sea views. Oubaai is Ernie Els first course in South Africa. Getting to the Garden Route could not be easier – there are direct daily flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg to George. Alternatively self drive is a very popular option, and enjoy the amazing mountain passes on the way.
Why not finish your Garden Route golf with a safari? Situated about an hour and a half East of Port Elizabeth there are a number of malaria free game reserves including Shamwari, Kwandwe, Kichaka and Lalibela.
